Hector E. Bones

FOUNDER

Education: Bachelor in Exercise Science (Temple University)

Hi, I’m Hector! I created Elevate with a simple belief system based on the Dinner Table – it is the place where you often learn life’s greatest lessons. People bring their favorite dish, their stories to laugh, questions to ponder, and energy to inspire. Everyone brings something! At the table we are nourished; we come together, exchange ideas, learn, share, serve and grow.

Hence Elevate was born! I believe that sustainable fitness isn’t just about exercise; it’s a lifestyle. I strive to create a supportive and challenging environment where clients not only reach their goals but also develop a lasting passion for a healthier life. To change the narrative of Personal Training, I want to build a relationship with you, know your routines, and believe that we can keep you away from the hospital by being active and strong.

I graduated from Temple University with a B.S. in Kinesiology. I went on to be a Personal Trainer at a Sporting Club at Bellevue. After being there six years, I believed there had to be a better way for our industry to be elevated – for a Team to be created, interact, and learn from each other. I also believe that the clients can have an experience that is intimate, efficient, and feeling that they are in a place where they can grow.

Ryan Scalia

General manager and Head Coach

Education: Music Performance (Berklee College of Music), Certified Personal Trainer

Husband, Brother, Son, Drummer, Bowler
I’ve been playing drums professionally since 2012 and began fitness coaching in 2017. I’ve done both now in some capacity since then.

I love being able to help others work towards their fitness goals and strive to help them enjoy the process along the way. Whether coaching them through their programs or facilitating a positive experience through managing duties, it feels good to provide our members the best service I can from start to finish.

In my free time, I enjoy exploring Philadelphia with my wife, playing gigs around the area, going bowling, and listening to our record collection at home.

Not so much other hidden talents but other interests of mine include learning about ancient archeology and reading philosophy and psychology.

I want my clients to not only feel capable and challenged in their training but also to feel seen and heard as a human. If they leave their session feeling in a better place mentally along with physically, I’ve done my job.

Everyone has their own goals, values, struggles, and perspectives in life. It’s easy for us to get caught up in our own obligations. I encourage each of us to find even the smallest connection with someone else each day and to find those moments to be present with ourselves.

FEMALE PERSONAL TRAINER

Education: B.S. in Kinesiology – Exercise Science, Iowa State University, ACE Certified Personal Trainer

I bring energy, empathy, and a true coach’s heart to the Elevate team. I’m originally from the Midwest (Minnesota and Wisconsin proud!), and after moving to Philly, I quickly fell in love with both the city and the Elevate community.

Whether I’m leading a small group personal training session or dialing in form during a one-on-one, I meet every client where they are. My goal is to provide encouragement, the right level of challenge, and help you see that you’re capable of more than you think.

I’ve always been a mover—playing sports growing up, coaching since college, and now chasing after my pup Millie on long walks. Outside of the gym, you’ll usually find me playing pickup basketball, curled up with my Kindle, or adding mushrooms to just about every meal.

I grew up in a town of just 800 people, where I learned the value of connection, resilience, and showing up for your people. Those values shape how I coach every day. What drives me is helping clients move better, get stronger, and build confidence that carries far beyond the gym.

At Elevate, I’m here to help you feel strong, supported, and empowered—one rep, one session, one small win at a time.

Brandon Crooks

PERSONAL TRAINER

Education: Bachelors in Psychology and Kinesiology from Penn State, CSCS Certified

Education: The Pennsylvania State University B.S in Psychology; Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist

I’ve been helping people achieve their fitness goals for over 8 years, working with clients of all backgrounds to build strength, confidence, and resilience. What started as a hobby in college turned into a career rooted in helping others become the best version of themselves.

At Elevate, I see myself as more than just a coach—I’m in your corner. I’ll cheer you on, challenge you when it counts, and celebrate every step of progress along the way. My favorite part of the job is that moment when it all clicks—when knee pain fades, a hike feels easier, or confidence in your body starts to come back.

Outside of the gym, I’ve definitely got a soft spot for sweet treats (they don’t last long around me). I’m also naturally an early riser and someone who tries to bring positive energy into every session.

My goal is simple: to help you leave each session feeling more confident—confident in how you move, how you feel, and how you show up in your life. I believe fitness isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s a journey that should be shaped around you. And my role is to make that journey feel approachable, sustainable, and rewarding.

Shimei Brown

Female Strength and Performance Coach

Education: Bachelors in Athletic Training from Temple University, NASM certified

I graduated with a degree in Exercise Science, where I built a strong foundation in injury prevention, performance training, and client-centered coaching. My background includes athletic training, strength programming, and helping individuals move better, feel stronger, and build consistency through fitness.

What I love most about working at Elevate is the opportunity to build meaningful relationships while guiding clients through both physical and mental growth. There’s something powerful about watching someone realize they’re capable of more than they thought—and seeing that confidence carry over into their everyday life.

Outside of the gym, I enjoy creating content in the wellness and beauty space, traveling, trying new recipes, and spending time with friends and family. I’m drawn to anything that blends discipline with creativity.

A hidden talent of mine is picking up choreography quickly—and I genuinely enjoy creating it. I’m also fascinated by human behavior, especially how mindset, habits, and environment influence performance both inside and outside the gym.

My goal is for every client to feel supported, challenged, and capable. I want you to leave each session feeling stronger physically, clearer mentally, and more confident than when you walked in.

To me, fitness is more than reps and sets—it’s about building discipline, self-trust, and a foundation you can rely on. My role is to help you develop that in a way that feels sustainable, empowering, and aligned with your life.

Adam Raven

Licensed Massage Therapist
In collaboration with Elevate Health & Performance

After 10 years working as a social worker with young people and about the same time working for the man in Corporate America I decided to flip it upside down and retrain as a Massage Therapist, so am now Adam Raven LMT(Licensed Massage Therapist)

I was born and raised in Leicester, England, moving over to North America in 2009. Philly, and indeed Fairmount has been my home since 2011. I’m a keen runner, cyclist, yogi, skier, and pretty much anything else outdoors, so wanted to move into a career that more closely aligned with my interest of living a heathy lifestyle both mentally and physically.

I have an 8 year old son who follows many of my interests, although I am yet to find his level of passion for Pokemon, Roblox or spinning in circles until I fall over.

MY APPROACH

I use variety of massage modalities to create a relaxing environment aimed at complementing other aspects of your life be it running, cycling, yoga, climbing or just staying generally healthy. I use massage to help with improving recovery speeds before and after workouts, races or competitions. Recovery is the key to improving and being ready for that next event, and crucial to recovery is good quality sleep, particularly before and after those big workouts or during high stress times.

Whilst I can work with most people, if we are involved in similar activities, the reality is I’ll be in a better position to understand your interests and in turn priorities from a first hand experience. That’s why I was keen to tell you a little bit about myself above and why most of the people I work with are enjoy running, cycling, yoga, climbing, boot camps or hit class type activities.

Take the first step.
